As many events, objects, symbols, and commemorations have a special date, vinyl records also have their celebration. The Record Store Day (RSD) is a global representative moment in which independent producers, record store owners, collaborators, artists and music lovers converge.
Convened for the first time in 2007 in Baltimore, Maryland, the RSD emerged as a means to promote independent record stores and support artists. Enhancing the particular culture that surrounds record stores, the event is held yearly, inviting renown and debut musicians to perform. Moreover, unique releases, limited editions and hidden treasures are made available to purchase, becoming the perfect occasion to get special vinyl records.
Since COVID-19 pandemic has changed dynamics in general, in 2021 the RSD will be on June 12th and July 17th, rather than in April, considering preparation times for vinyl pressing plants, distribution companies and stores. Special releases can be found in the official website: https://recordstoreday.com/
